My Beliefs

Fundamentally, I believe that:

  • All children are good and want to do well. They will if they can.

  • Behavior is a form of communication.

  • Challenging behaviors are a natural part of early childhood development.

  • You are the best parent for your child.

  • There are solutions and strategies to approach all challenging behaviors.

  • Parenting can trigger emotional responses in adults and open unresolved questions from our own childhoods.

  • It takes community support, reflection, humor, practice, and grace to parent effectively.

When children are struggling to behave, they are expressing an emotional response to an unmet need or a skill they have not yet developed. Challenges will surface as children are learning to express themselves and manage their emotions. As adults, I believe it’s our responsibility to listen carefully and to build our own skill sets to meet the needs of our children at each developmental stage. We cannot do this until we’ve reflected on our own beliefs, experiences, and approach. Loving our children is an instinct, but parenting them is a skill.

My Approach

Have more good days parenting.

More Good Days is a parent-facing coaching service for children ages 2-6 designed to help you create an approachable action plan to handle the daily challenges of parenting young children. I offer practical and approachable strategies for real parents that align with your values and family context.

We’ll do this by coupling early childhood expertise and behavior strategies with your knowledge of your child to design a specific and personalized plan for how to respond to difficult behaviors your child demonstrates. The goal is to support you and your family to have more good days together!

  • We’ll start with an intake form that you and your family complete about your child. This is where you’ll share information about your child and the challenging behaviors you’d like support with handling.

  • Once you completed the intake form I’ll reach out to schedule a one hour behavior consult over Zoom or in person if you prefer.

During this hour, we will discuss the specific behaviors you presented and the language and actions you can use to support more positive behavior. We will problem solve around challenging scenarios and work together to establish a plan.

  • After our consult, I’ll complete a comprehensive report outlining all of the strategies we discussed. This will be a reference for you as you put the ideas into practice.
